The Next Big Thing–Barbee Edition

So there’s a “chain blog” going around, and I got tagged by fellow author JW Wargo (http://jwwargo.blogspot.com/) to participate. It actually works out well because, lo and behold, I have a new book coming out soon.  So here is a nice little interview where you can hear some exclusive details about my latest….

-WHAT IS THE TITLE OF YOUR NEW BOOK?

Thunderpussy

-WHERE DID THE IDEA COME FROM FOR THE BOOK?

I was sending dozens of story pitches to Carlton Mellick III, but none were really catching his eye. Except one, but the only thing about it he liked was a word in the title: “Thunderpussy.” He said it would be a cool title for a bizarro spy story, like a weird riff on James Bond… so I wrote it.

-WHAT GENRE DOES YOUR BOOK FALL UNDER?

Bizarro

-WHAT ACTORS WOULD YOU CHOSE TO PLAY THE PART OF YOUR CHARACTERS IN A MOVIE RENDITION?

DECLAN BRUCE: Benedict Cumberbatch

PETITE LAVULVA: Anne Hathaway

OBERON TUBBS: we would use CGI to make Peter Dinklage ten feet tall

PSYCHE DELIA: Christina Hendricks

NEWTON SCROOGEFORD: Harry Dean Stanton

JOCKO SPICOLI: Elijah Wood

BALTHAZAR BROCKENDICH: Michael Fassbender

AGENT PI: Brent Spiner (my wife has a crush on him)

-WHAT IS THE ONE-SENTENCE SYNOPSIS OF YOUR BOOK?

Thunderpussy is a bizarro cyberspy thriller that’ll fry every microchip the government secretly implanted in your brain.

-WILL YOUR BOOK BE SELF-PUBLISHED OR REPRESENTED BY AN AGENCY?

It will be published by Eraserhead Press, the finest publisher of weird literature on the planet.

-HOW LONG DID IT TAKE YOU TO WRITE THE FIRST DRAFT OF THE MANUSCRIPT?

About five weeks.

-WHAT OTHER BOOKS WOULD YOU COMPARE THIS STORY TO WITHIN YOUR GENRE?

That’s hard to say. Like my last book, A Town Called Suckhole, I don’t think there’s been a bizarro book quite like this before.

-WHO OR WHAT INSPIRED YOU TO WRITE THIS BOOK?

A big guy with crazy sideburns told me to.

-WHAT ELSE ABOUT THE BOOK MIGHT PIQUE THE READER’S INTEREST?

There’s a ton of sexy violence and violent sex.
